When it comes to designing one’s home one wants to create a space that brings them comfort in their own skin. The design styles that we chose are often a reflection of what makes the space comes alive and still give a home the solace we need.
Good design is a good balance of complementing and honoring your home’s architecture for today with the right design.
Mid Century Modern combines straight lines with vibrant color palette and tones of rich wood. The mid century design movement took hold after World War II. The cleanliness and minimalism of the look is a core component. Architecturally homes with glass, lot of wood, sharp lines were the heart of this style.
Charles and Ray Eames were one of the icons in setting the foundation of the design style in the 20th century as they brought to the world iconic furniture pieces such as the Eames chair. As quoted in their biography, “they had an undeniable intuition for the rightness of particular forms, colors, and finishing details.”
Hairpin legs which were once common with mostly wooden mid century furniture have evolved to combine texture to bring mid century modern pieces to today’s homes. This chair combines a comfortable upholstered seat with the angled legs - purely mid century modern.

Joanna Gaines made the farmhouse look popular and many a humble homes have adapted the look with fervor. The chippy, distressed farm paint look, the oaky wood and certain whimsical accents bring the modern farmhouse look together.
The style evolved over time and many feel that it is now gone and no longer on-trend but the truth is that its evolving as many a folks blend it with industrial elements, farmhouse chic, cottage or just make it very contemporary and simplistic. The truth is that the elements of this style are incorporated all over especially in kitchens, floors and more.
We really can't not talk about the California coastal living style. While coastal design has been intrinsic to many areas and evolved with different hues and palettes, the California coastal style everybody talks about is an adaptation of coastal elements blended with lots of white linen, warmth and lived in comfort. The palette has moved to soft coastal rather than cheesy coastal if you know what we mean. Lots of beige, whites, subtle mints, light blue hues, jute and more make this style come alive.

As the name suggests industrial architecture exudes the metal tones and the architecture includes lofty ceilings, exposed pipes, bare brick walls, pipes, and recycled materials.
The decor is intrinsically modern and complements the architecture with metallic accents, modern furniture with subtle metal elements. Depending on the space one can easily blend in blacks, greys or rust, yellows for a pop of color.
A recent phenomenon Boho, bohemian or boho chic design has been buzzing. One doesnt know if it is a trend or will last long but it is definitely exuberant and charming in its entiry. Free spirited design with lots on beige, ivory supplemented with pops of color in magenta, orange and more. It does have a lot of texture in the decor on pillows, frayed elements and is the design which made “macrame” famous. Lots of green indoor plants are also intrinsic to this design.
One can have fun with a space by going mismatched with furniture pieces, bringing in warmth, poufs and creating a space to perfectly relax.
Majestic transitional homes have an old world charm often with large hallways, dramatic fireplaces, ceiling, nooks and architecture that is meant to wow. Classic elements combined with a blend of subtle contemporary makes transitional comes alive. Classics such as the chesterfields sofa, curved lines rather than straight elements are a stable. Elegance is a key goal to accomplish when going transitional. Since it blends the traditional with the contemporary its not the easiest style to balance but it brings comfort and a zone of ease to many homes.
